ERSM (Guernsey) Limited was founded in September 2003 specifically to provide physical security. Registered in BVI, with a shared administrative and financial headquarters in Guernsey, the operational element was based in, and focused on, Iraq. After a prominent management role in early post conflict operations, the Company established secure accommodation and started providing personal security details for clients.
In August 2004, ERSM (Holdings) Ltd, a Guernsey registered company, was established to provide a permanent dedicated Headquarters for the developing Group. After the first successful operation in Afghanistan that October, a Regional Headquarters was established in the United Arab Emirates to provide a geographically closer focus to the emerging markets. In January 2005, the Company was one of the first to conduct operations in Southern Sudan. The Regional Headquarters was formally established as ERSM (International) Limited and is the prime operational, administrative and financial centre for the group activities outside of the UK and USA.
Part of the Groups expansion programme was to establish dedicated account management and sales teams in the UK and USA. The USA operation built a large training facility in the Florida Apalachicola area. In addition to providing a diverse range of instructional courses to the military, law enforcement and civilian communities, it was also the base for a two month, one hundred and eighty man, relief effort during the Hurricanes in autumn 2005.
In addition to this wider geographical spread, the Group has also grown the services it offers in answer to client demand. These now include a logistics management division, with warehousing capability within a FreeZone in Dubai, and a tactical equipment supply division with two retail outlets and an internet sales site. 2005 also saw the addition of the Edinburgh Business Investigations and Intelligence division (EBII) and Edinburgh Enterprise, which seeks to facilitate, advise and invest in new opportunities in the developing world.
The Group re-branded as Edinburgh International in April 2006 and added the Security Sector Reform division early in 2007. EI continues to grow strongly and in a planned fashion, retaining 100% employee ownership and the core values that have driven our success to date.
